About the Team

The transport team is made up of 7 Drivers and 1 Driver Team lead, who report to the Transport Manager.  They are part of the planning and export team and are responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of both chicks and eggs throughout the region to meet client demand. 

We are looking to recruit a HGV driver to the team.


Main responsibilities

  • Safe and Effective Transportation of produce in both the UK and Mainland Europe
  • Carry out daily checks on assigned vehicle
  • Report any vehicle faults
  • Wash and disinfected vehicle following task
  • Refuel vehicles as required
  • Carryout task as directed by HGV Update (Egg collections / Chick deliveries)
  • Report any damage to Egg or chick trolleys to Hatchery Manager
  • Take vehicles to Garage for repairs and safety inspections
  • Have a positive and professional attitude when dealing with the customer

Additional Responsibilities and Projects

  • To observe all hygiene rules, this includes personal hygiene, hand washing and the wearing of all protective clothing.
  • To strictly adhere to all bio-security rules.
  • Adhere to all Facility Health and Safety rules and procedures.
  • Any other reasonable requests by the Transport Manager
  • Must hold a full UK Category C Driving Licence
  • Being able to work efficiently on own initiative

Working hours

The hours of work are 40 per week.  Tasks and responsibilities are scheduled on a 7 week working rota.  There must be flexibility around start times and finish times.  Some driving in Europe work may be required.

Additional Information

Training will be given for Category C+E if necessary, as well as Transport of Animals by Road and European Transportation Certificate.

Candidates cannot hold any avian species at home.
